It seems like nationals has barely finished, but the next season is already kicking up! USARS has posted the requirements for the 2012-2013 skating season. You can find the new requirements HERE. Read 'em and weep.
The observant skater might notice a lot of changes and a lot of unfamiliar dances. That's because there are 8 NEW DANCES this year! You can download the diagrams and descriptions of all the new dances HERE. (Yes, there are 9 dances listed there, but the Princeton Polka isn't new - the team diagam just wasn't printed before. The other 8 dances are new. Lots of memorization and play time ahead.)
Actually, I was able to test out most of the new dances this morning. Some of them are pretty fun, or at least an improvement over previous requirements. Others.... not so much. Of course, it is early in the season, and I am sure I will get a better feeling for these dances as I work on them and see other people skate them more, but either way it is already shaping up to be an interesting season.
We have the Princeton Polka at the moment here in NZ, It's a Youth International Grade Dance (Which I think sits somewhere between your freshman and Junior International?)
