Newsflash: Burda Plus Spring/Summer 2014 Full Preview Posted

The Russian Burda website has posted the full preview of the Spring/Summer edition of the Burda Plus magazine.  Half of the designs have been used previously in regular Burda magazines (BS-05-2012 and BS-07-2012), but I thought we should take a look at a few of the new designs...

My favorite new designs for this issue are the jackets:

The jacket is cute!
Don't know if I think it is the right proportions to wear with
that shirt, but I still like the jacket.

Love the lines on the back!  The zipper pockets are cute too.

This jacket would be cute for a spring work wardrobe.

Feels very classy and feminine.

I like the collar shape on this boxy blazer.

There were also a few cute dresses:

I think the neckline is very pretty.

And back darts always get a thumbs up from me.

I thought this pattern-blocked dress looked sort of generic...

But I actually really love all the panels and seaming in the line drawing.

There is a second variation with a slightly different neckline as well.

I wasn't too excited by the photo of this dress...

But the line drawing isn't bad.
Would probably look cuter if she were standing so the skirt could hang.

Another case where the photo does nothing for me.

But based on this line drawing it could actually be quite pretty.
Definitely a good dress for twirling.

And a few other interesting designs:

Yes, it is just a pencil skirt,
but it is a FABULOUS looking pencil skirt.

Similar, but shorter...

No vent in the back, and lack detail at the waistband are interesting.

I thought it was hard to see any of the details in this photo.

The skirt is cute, but based on one of the re-print designs.

The top is... ok I guess.  I would leave off the dust ruffle sleeves.

I thought the photo of this dress looked rather sloppy.

But I actually see potential in the line drawing.
I think different fabric choices could help it a lot.

I don't know if this giant vest is my style,
but I do think it actually looks kinda cool in the picture.

I think this is a stunning photo...
but the sleeves and super wide neckline might make this difficult to wear.

The fact that this is based on the jacket pattern shown earlier makes me
think it would really need a neckline alteration to be functional.

The shirt and pants... are sort of generic.

I feel like this looks a bit too boxy on the model.

The pants have elastic in the back of the waistband - sort of awesome for fitting, actually.

There are only a few designs that leave me shaking my head:

I think it is a combo of the pattern and print of the fabric, but... ugh.

Ack!  Why, Burda, WHY???

So, what do you all think?  See anything you are super excited about?  Or does this issue feel a bit more generic than Plus issues from the past?  Anyone else wishing they would make that yellow jacket in the smaller sizes?  Feel free to discuss in the comments!

  1. Feelsl like pattern companies are still trying to re-do the 70s/80s/early 90s and failing miserably. Because the "iconic" and "interesting" fashions from those decades were darn fugly.
