Home, Home Again

It has been a long trip to nationals this year, but finally I am back home.  Sorta.  I mean, I am home, but I am still in that not-quite-adjusted-to-my-own-time-zone phase, and unpacking has been pointedly ignored up to this point.  And, as the skaters out there know, once you enter the main competition season your dwellings slowly descend into chaos as practice times replace the "free time" you once had to do things like cook and clean, while a random assortment of beading supplies occupy the flat elevated surfaces and partially packed suitcases consume all of the floor space.  It is utter madness.  And the time has finally come to deal with it.  Well, tomorrow.  Or more specifically, later today.  But still, the time is here.

In any case, I just wanted to let my regular readers know that (1) I am still alive! (2) I have lots of things to post about (mostly a backlog of sewn items, skating costumes, and sewing-related acquisitions that I didn't have time to post about before, also a post on how I make skating skirts, as requested by a reader), which I will get to, but probably not for a few days. (3) I hope to catch up on blog reading, and it will probably take a few days at least, but I am excited to see what everyone else has been up to while I have been distracted by skating. (4) I can FINALLY get back to sewing things for me!  I want to continue on in my year-long Tim Gunn Challenge, but right now I am also really wanting to make a lightweight late summer/early fall jacket.  So... we shall see.  I have a lot of UFO-ish type projects that got put on hold because of skating sewing, so I might want to finish a lot of those items up first, or make some knit tops as intant gratification sewing, or whatever.  These plans haven't really been finalized yet.  But, sewing, it will happen.  After cleaning.  And some blog reading.  And more cleaning.  Oh, and doing actual work.  Ummmm, yeah.  Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know I am back and I with any luck will be posting sewing related things again soon.

  1. I'll picture you eating mac n cheese from the blue box while surrounded by heaps of sequins and bugle beads until you are back...
